Lenten Haiku
February & March 2005
|
the world weighs heavy
our brokenness wearies us
and yet God is here
|
shadows threaten us
darkness presses on all sides
God’s light continues
|
we hunger and thirst
longing to be satisfied
abundance is here
|
life comes as a gift
whether we notice or not
it’s time to rejoice
|
|
having received
we freely share what we have
God’s abundant life
|
God's love shining through
filling our lives and our world
our response is praise
|
- Easter -
new life out of death?
it seems so improbable
surprise! God is here!

4 Advent Haiku
December 2001
|
Advent comes again
time for watching and waiting
fill your days with hope
|
God is with us now
even in the darkest times
joy is our response
|
peace seems so fragile
in the midst of our fighting
but shalom endures
|
trusting God - we wait
knowing that love will find us
indeed, it is here!

a new verse for
Faith While Trees Are Still In Blossom
1994
Faith, while wheat is just emerging,
sees the harvest of the grain.
As the fields are cultivated,
faith believes in coming rain.

a Lenten reflection on Jeremiah 31
April 2003
It is tattooed on our hearts
Etched on the walls
at the core of our being
There is no escaping the reality
And yet we still ignore it
or deny it
or simply forget
'I will be your God,
and you will be my people.'
When will we begin to live
like the covenant people that we are?
